The Bar
You can choose to host the bar in a variety of ways, but it all comes down to your guests and your budget. Here are some helpful ways you can host your bar:
Timeframe: Perhaps you only want to host items during cocktail hour or dinner, and then switch to cash bar at a certain time of the evening.
Dollar Amount: Best way to stay on budget is to say what amount you want to go towards the bar. The bartenders then will keep a tally of the drinks they serve and when they get close to reaching your cap, we will come find you to see if you want to extend it, or turn it into cash bar when you run out.
Specific Selection: Most popular option. You can specify what the hosted bar consists of. For example, if you want to host keg beer and wine but guests can pay for their own liqour. Or maybe you want to host everything except for top tier liqours. Perhaps even yet, you have a special bride and groom drink you've invented that you want to host and the bar to serve.
Combination of above: My favorite option that gives you the most control, is to do a dollar amount but then limit that dollar amount to a specific selection. (For example: "I want to host 2 kegs and put $1000 down on wine and well liqour. When the $1000 is gone, then we switch to cash bar". ) We always give you the option the night of to extend this amount when you are getting close to reaching it.
